Hai, nama saya Ayra. Kadang2 mummy panggil saya 'Ra-Ra'.

Syukur, saya dah pun 14 bulan pada 1 Ramadhan lepas.

Saya sekarang tengah belajar nak makan suap sendiri, tapi kadang2 mummy bebel sebab saya buat sepah.

Tapi mummy tak kisah, sebab sekarang makan je, mesti kena alas supaya tak tumpah teruk.

Sekarang saya dah makin banyak cakap, kadang2 mummy & babah tak faham apa yg saya cuba cakap.

Diorang gelak2 cakap saya macam Minion! Saya tak kisah pun.

Ada certain words yg saya pandai cakap walaupun pelat sikit.

Contohnya, ABANG, KAKAK, ATOK, ADIK, BABY, BIRD, CAT, AIR, MAMAM, SUSU.

Oh ye, sekarang saya dah pandai joget, lompat, bagi flying kiss & salam orang.

Tapi bab makan saya ni susah sikit, kesian mummy kena fikir setiap hari mcm mana nak bg saya makan banyak.

Saya dah start minum Anmum 2 kali kat rumah Mak Zah setiap hari. Tapi bila balik rumah, saya suka mengempeng terus kat mummy. Sebab susu mummy lagi sedap dari Anmum.

How to Encounter Car Seat Drama?

Car seat is a top priority in your must-have list. It's for your child safety. But facing car seat drama could be daunting. My daily routine is sending Ayra to her babysitter's as my office is nearby. My problem is that every evening when I fetch her, she refuses to sit in her car seat. Some parents did suggest some of these;

1) tablet/smartphone with kids apps [checked!]

- still not working, she throws my iphone, (i think the same repeated nursery rhymes are boring, must download new apps)

2) toys [checked!]

- still not working, (she's getting bored of the same toys, must change her travel toys)

3) cookies/food treat [checked!]

- this idea is promising, i normally use this trick as she enjoys eating and munching

4) sing along [checked!]

- i always sing along (out loud) just to entertain her. siap buat gaya tepuk2 tangan, lantaklah driver lain nampak aku pelik (who cares?!)

How do you deal with this kind of situation? Aku rasa distracted and asyik nak pandang belakang whenever Ayra melalak nangis2 nak escape dari harnest car seat dia. Husband cakap, biarkan je dia nangis, jangan nak pandang2 belakang. Bahaya! So mommies, can you share your experience?

Our 3rd Anniversary

Yesterday marked our 3rd wedding anniversary. We took a day leave, sent Ayra to her babysitter's and went for a date. Just the 2 of us. Had our breakfast at Kluang Rail Coffee (our favorite kopitiam), then went to the mall and purchased 2 movie tickets (Avengers: Age of Ultron). Serius lama tak tengok wayang sejak mengandung lagi. While waiting for the showtime, we headed to Songbox Karaoke. Lama sangat tak asah bakat nyanyian. LOL.

Had lunch at Kenny Rogers. No romantic dinner or whatsoever. Grabbed some picture books for Ayra. Kesian dia, tak dapat ikut. Hehe. The movie was good overall. Still in awe watching the technologies created by Tony Stark. Oh, last weekend we just had a short vacation at Pulai Desaru. Sempena 3rd anniversary. Spent quality time with my family, enjoyed the beach and the seafood. 

Thank you husband for being there for me. I know I am not a perfect wife, sebab saya ni degil dan 'gembeng'. But I am trying hard to be one. Love you till Jannah.

Mummy's Feeling Anxious

I am facing this kind of situation where my baby daughter refuses to drink from feeding bottle when me and husband are around. Again. I also tried some formula milk to top up my ebm, since my ebm stock has depleted. On a normal working day, I bring 3 bottles of ebm to her babysitter's. After 5pm, she usually 'mengempeng' because mummy is around.

This give me anxiety, Will she drink formula milk from her bottle when I am out of town? A friend once said,  Don't worry. Your child will drink the milk when you are not there, and she will understand that mummy has to work.

Easier said than done huh? But I am not convinced. Even when babah tried to feed her, she rejected the mik bottle without hesitation. *sigh* What should I do? I have tried 3 different brands including the renowned goat's milk on the shelves. In fact, we also bought her a new fancy feeding bottle and a sippy cup. The anxiety comes when mummy has to work out of town. And this feeling goes on and off. 

When She Turns One

This is a challenging phase. My daughter has turned one. And now she is in learning process. Recently she can throw tantrums. I guess the culprit is 'teething'. She will cry out loud 'macam kena dera' due to the discomfort. Poor baby. Mummy and babah tried to calm her and luckily I found her old pacifier, the one that Ayra used when she was 4 months. I put the pacifier in the fridge for about 10-15 mins just to chill it. And it helps to soothe her swollen gums. Thank God. We finally feel relieved. 

At night before bed, I usually let Ayra to have a warm bath in her tub. I use Baby Bedtime Lavender Bath to help her sleep better. I throw her favorite toys and let her indulge herself playing with bubbles and splashing water. Put on her pyjamas, give a mild massage, breastfeed her and finally she falls asleep. My child usually sleeps around 10ish. Since she has started walking and cruising the whole house, I found that her sleep pattern has changed. This is good, because mummy and babah can sleep early too. 

The most challenging part is when your child has begun to imitate you. Oh-oh! Make sure you don't use bad words or cursing others in front of your child. They can absorb the information real quick and try to imitate. Normally, when we drop a dry food on your lap or on the table, some of us might blow the food quickly and eat it. Me and husband usually do this. And one fine night, I noticed that Ayra has learnt the same way too. Which is bad for her! My oh my. What do we do now? We must be extra careful and must keep the floor clean. Babies love picking up objects from the floor. Moreover, my child loves ripping up the newspaper, magazines and supermarket catalogues. Then she puts the ripped paper in her mouth. Oh my Ayra!

Sunday Blues

Kat Johor, tak ada dah istilah 'Monday Blues', sebab dah jadi 'Sunday Blues'. Tak best betul sejak 2014 kena kerja on Sundays. Yelah, Sunday banyak cerita best. Haha. So sindrom hari pertama kerja memang semua macam lemau je, kepala teringat2 rumah. 

Hari pertama sure asyik teringat Ayra. Rindu betul. Sebab weekend spent lama masa golek2 dan gelak2 dengan anak. Haihhhh lepas tu mulalah buka folder album ditatapnya gambar dia sejak lahir lagi. Entahlah, aku rasa mak2 lain ada kot macam aku. Husband pun macam aku. Rindu gila kat anak bila hari pertama kerja. Tapi hari lain pun tetap rindu jugak. Hee.

Lagi 2 minggu Ayra nak setahun. Tak taulah nak celebrate macam mana. Hari tu beriya nak buat makan2 panggil family and friends. Tapi bila fikir balik, dia ni kecik lagi, makna birthday party pun dia tak paham, apa lagi nak tiup2 lilin kat kek bagai. So, we decided untuk celebrate among close family je. Including her grandparents. Bila besar sikit barulah syok buat birthday party.

Last Thursday Ayra demam pulak. Aku syak demam teething tu. Sebab anak aku ni kerja dia asyik nak menggigit je lately. Baju aku, lengan aku, peha aku, meja, toys, magazines, semualah. Nasib baik nipple tak digigitnya. Mau meraung aku. 

Mata macam babah, hidung & mulut macam mummy. Oh, jajan tu bukan utk dia makan pun, buat main je.

Cara Galakkan Anak Makan

Hari tu balik rumah mama aku kena sound sebab Ayra nampak susut. Mama bising katanya kena jaga makan anak betul2. Jangan lambat bagi makan, kena on time. Jangan mudah putus asa bila suap anak makan, bagi dia makan sampai habis. 

Ok, baiklah. Mama bagi task supaya bila next month balik rumah, mama nak Ayra mesti dah berisi sikit. Oh my! 

Ayra punya habit bila dia rasa makanan tu tak sedap kat tekak dia, lepas 10 suap mulalah sembur2, lepas tu dia buat bunyi 'Wekk', paling teruk dia akan muntahkan makanan yg aku dah suap. Adoi... Pernah sekali aku buat broccoli puree, masuk suapan pertama terus muntah. Taubat dah terus tak letak broccoli sekarang. 

So, semalam aku singgah kedai baby beli feeding bowl dgn sudu baru utk Ayra. 

Hypothesis: Ayra mesti curious nak tau dan dia akan makan bila aku suap dgn sudu dan mangkuk baru yg nampak lebih menarik. 

Yes, Alhamdulillah. Hypothesis aku betul. So ujian aku ni signifikan la kiranya. Bahaha. Amek ko keluar statistik. 

Semalam banyak dia makan, sambil suap sambil layan dia main dan tengok ZooMoo. Memang kena sabar bab2 nak suap dia ni. Yang penting anak kenyang.

Tips and tricks:

1. Pastikan makanan yg disukai anak dan berkhasiat

2. Gunakan utensils yg menarik dgn watak kartun atau color yg menarik

3. Ajak dia main sambil suap dia makan

4. Sabar, sabar, sabar. (Jangan jadi macam aku yg cepat give in)

Ini budak top up dgn EBM lepas habis makan sambil tengok kartun.

Around the Clock

I don't know if I need to blog about this or not.

You know, life as a mother is not an easy task.

I think I need more than 24 hours per day.

My routine starts at 6.40 am.

After morning bath, I quickly off to the kitchen to blend Ayra's porridge that I let it cooked overnight using a slow cooker. Oh, thanks to whom that invented the cooker.

Ayra will cry and ask for milk (or just want to ngempeng).

I have no other option, so I let her ngempeng sambil baring.

I have to ask husband to change Ayra's diaper meanwhile I get dress.

Off to work, punch in and send Ayra to her babysitter's.

After 5 pm, I fetch Ayra.

Cook porridge for Ayra's dinner.

Prepare for dinner.

After Isya' prayer, I start cooking.

Dinner around 9.45pm (ini dikira lewat ni).

Check Ayra's diaper bag, prepare EBM.

Doze off at 12.30 am.

Breastfeeding goes on and on and on from dusk till the break of dawn.

Err, the next morning, I am hungry like a T-Rex. Haha.

Review: Pigeon Peristaltic Plus Bottle

I had this kind of problem which is my baby rejected her Tommee Tippee bottle. This happened when I left her with husband while working at the head office. I had to tag along both of them and hubby had babysit Ayra at the hotel while mummy was out for a meeting with the boss. So, this is how the story begins. Ayra refused ebm in feeding bottle. She cried out loud until husband had to bring her out from the hotel room and 'tawaf' the whole Alamanda shopping mall. Oh, luckily the hotel is just adjacent Alamanda so hubby can escape there.

The other story is we had to leave Ayra at my mom's place because her babysitter was out of town. My mom said she only drank 2 oz out of 4 oz of ebm. My oh my! And she also had some apple puree for her lunch. I started to panic but my mom remained as calm as possible. Because she had experiences in handling her kids. Hee.

Then i came across some mother's review on Pigeon bottle. Most of them gave positive feedbacks. Finally I bought one Pigeon Peristaltic Plus Bottle (Polypropylene) for Ayra. That night I was experimenting and tadaaaa it works wonders. Some mothers use the term, "Magical Bottle". And it's true. Ayra has started to drink from Pigeon bottle. Phewww, it is such a relief when I saw Ayra can easily adapting to the new soft teat. And I saw hubby smiling happily. Alhamdulillah. So, as for now bye bye Tommee Tippee bottle. Kita simpan dulu untuk adik Ayra pulak.

Melawa

Aku rasa lately sejak dah ada anak ni, aku macam dah tak melawa dah. Yelah, kalau keluar rumah tu aku nak senang pakai tudung awning express tu je. Korang tau tak, bila sebelum ada anak, husband aku tak prefer aku pakai tudung awning, katanya aku nampak mcm mak cik.  Tapi sekarang, sejak dah jadi mak orang, dia ok pulak sebab nak senang, ringkas dan cepat. Yelah, bila time anak meragam nak nenen ke apa, masa tu sangat2 berharga, kena pantas jadinya. Tak sompek den nak pakai shawl lilit2 dahhh. 

Kalau bab make up lagilah kan. Aku ni bukan yg suka make up pun. Just pakai compact powder utk shine control dan lip gloss je bagi bibir tak pucat. Jeles tengok mak2 orang lain melawa pakai dress, skirt, shawl lilit2, make up cun2. Macam mana diorang sempat buat semua tu eh? Aku kalau solat kat surau kalau boleh nak optimumkan masa supaya Ayra tak tunggu lama. I think for this period of time, sejak Ayra dah lasak nak suka tarik2 tudung, tudung awning express is the best solution. Tunggu Ayra besar sikit kot baru start melawa balik. Kesian husband aku, tengok bini sempoi sangat. Hee.

Making Puree for Baby

Ayra has started eating solid at 5 months 3 weeks and 4 days. Today i want to share with you some easy steps to make fruit or vege puree for your 6 months baby.

What you need?

- any suitable fresh fruits or vege: pear, red apple, pumpkin, sweet potato, broccoli or ripe banana

- expressed breast milk or formula milk

- water (optional)

What you need to do?

- dice any fruits or vege that you choose

- rinse thoroughly

- bring to a boil or the best way is to steam

- let them cool in room temperature

- puree in food processor or hand blender

- add milk or water

- ready to serve or keep in the freezer

Add some breast milk and enjoy feeding your baby!

Summary: Majlis Aqiqah Raja Ayra

Alhamdulillah, me and husband successfully hosted Aqiqah ceremony and doa selamat for Ayra. It was held on last 18 October at 2.30 pm. At first, we thought of having this event at in law's place but after some circumstances we opted to hold this program in Kluang. Million thanks to mama ayah adik, mak abah angah and issam for their help throughout this event. So, here's a summarized story. 

- a few days prior to her aqiqah: we pack the doorgifts for 120 guests + 50 kids, did a spring cleaning, bought 2 large ornamental plants with vases, meet and greet the lamb to be slaughtered, invite a women yassinan group, call for vendors; pelamin, photographer, caterer and canopy, prepared the bunga telur.

- the menu:  laksa johor, sup kambing, ubi rebus with sambal hijau, cakes, bubur pulut hitam, hot and cold drinks

- the pelamin theme: off-white, pink, peach

- attended guests: 100 pax 

Overall, we think we did a great job. Lepas ni dah kira lulus untuk buat kenduri tunang anak pulak. Haha. Terima kasih byk2 pada semua tetamu yg hadir. It was awesome even though we had to take a leave the day after sebab penat lenguh sakit badan baq hang! 

Review: Medela Swing

Ayra dah masuk 7 bulan dan fully breastfed walaupun dah start solid. Alhamdulillah. Hari ni aku nak share experience aku terhadap Medela Swing Breastpump. Aku beli kat One Baby World JB masa aku pregnant 8 bulan lagi. Ni dengan pakej cooler bag, ice pack, storage bottle and nursing bra, semuanya RM 790.00 kalau tak silap. Masa tu aku tak fikir pun nanti lepas bersalin susu banyak ke tak? Ayra reject breastmilk ke tak? Tawakal je. Lagipun aku dah study dari review orang yg Medela ni bagus.

Disclaimer: This is my point of view, setiap orang pengalaman berbeza.

Pros:

- suction lembut mimic baby's suction

- handy, ringan, kecil 

- pam yg senyap & almost unnoticeable (ni kawan2 aku cakap sbb bila diorang pegi bilik aku, diorang tak     sedar pun yg aku sambil mengepam discretely)

- bentuk bulat yg comel

- sangat mudah nak assemble parts

- sangat mudah nak basuh parts sebab tak banyak parts

- compatible dgn storage bottle brand Autumnz, Bumble Bee, Jingle Jungle

- boleh guna direct current (DC), 4 biji battery AA atau powerbank (ni aku baru discover!)

- boleh beli milk collection cup utk breast sebelah lg (elak pembaziran susu)

Tips: 

untuk guna powerbank, beli USB cable Lacte breastpump kat fabulous mom online (RM18.90). Aku  dah bereksperimen dgn powerbank Lacte officemate aku. So, aku berjaya! Guna powerbank power suction lebih baik mcm guna DC compared with guna battery mcm slow sikit.

Cons:

- harga agak pricey 

- pernah 2x berlaku backflow

- spare parts pun agak pricey

Cara elak backflow:

1) pastikan semua parts kering

2) pastikan pam berada lebih tinggi dari breast anda. kalau pam atas lantai, tinggikam kedudukan pam tu (boleh letak atas beg)

Jika berlaku backflow:

1) off pam dgn segera bg elak susu masuk pam yg bahagian dlm

2) basuh tiub yg dah dimasuki susu & keringkan

3) check pam bahagian dalam & pastikan tiada susu yg masuk bahagian elektronik (kalau susu masuk, pam boleh rosak & bersemut).

Ni jelah review aku pasal Medela Swing Single Pump. Aku puas hati dgn hasil tuaian setiap hari. Nak susu meriah? Kena pam setiap 3-4 jam sekali, minum air masak 2L sehari, eat well, jgn stress dan paling penting faham konsep supply & demand. Yang utama sekali, doa utk dimurahkan rezeki anak. Hope this helps mom-to-be yg masih mencari2 breastpump apa yg sesuai. Happy breastfeeding!

Rumah Tunggang-langgang

"Rumah tunggang-langgang, tapi kami bahagia". Haha. Itu tagline utk aku yg dah 6 bulan jadi mak. Secara personalnya, bila jadi ibu workload bertambah secara 3x ganda. Rutin aku sebagai mak pun berlaku ketika aku berada di pejabat. Iaitu mengepam susu. Susu mesti kena pam sekurang2nya 3 sesi dalam masa 8pg hingga 5 petang. Yang membimbangkan aku ialah meeting dgn bos yg berjam2 sehingga membuatkan boobies aku rasa penuh macam nak explode. Dan perasaan aku ketika itu ialah nak cepat2 balik bilik dan mengepam. Perasaan lega yg amat bila susu dah dikeluarkan. 

Kemudian apabila lunch break, aku akan lunch dgn Shafiq di kedai, baru balik rumah nap dan solat zohor. Aku pulak curi2 masa basuh baju & jemur. Kadang2 masuk balik ofis terlewat sikit. Selalunya aku akan solat asar siap2 kat ofis sebab balik kerja aku terus fetch Ayra dan singgah jap beli pisang goreng and such untuk minum petang Shafiq. So,bila balik rumah, terus masukkan EBM dlm peti ais, kemas beg Ayra untuk esok dan buat air utk minum petang. Fuhhh masa ni baru dapat bergelak2 dgn Ayra.

Tapi kan, habit aku korang tau kan, malas lipat kain. Akibatnya, basket aku pun menggunung kalah Gunung Kinabalu. Huu, itulah yg aku maksudkan tunggang-langgang. Yang jadi kepelikan ialah aku basuh baju every other day, tapi baju dalam bakul kotor macam makin banyak pulak. Shafiq pun rasa macam tu. Misteri sungguh!

Apa2 pun aku nak kena ajak Shafiq marathon melipat baju weekend ni. Haha. Tapi si Ayra my little helper yg 'rajin' mengemas. Siaplah kalau nampak suratkhabar or tisu habis dikerjakan dia. Anak aku ni aku punyalah belikan banyak toys tapi yg dia suka main ialah kertas, botol dan plastik. Pendek kata barang2 yg recyclable ni jadi favorite Ayra. =.="

Bila malam je kitorang akan gilir2 solat utk jaga Ayra sebab dia sekarang makin lasak. Sejak dah pandai roll over dan mengensot, kepungan atau benteng terpaksa diperhebat. Haha. Ayat BM aku tak boleh blah. Bantal kepung katil kena letak tinggi2. Lagi 1, mood Ayra ni cepat berubah 360 deg. Bila nak main gelak2 gurau2 Babah can handle, tapi bila dah ngantuk dan nak susu terus Mummy yg handle. Ayra bila ngantuk, nak direct feeding sambil baring kat katil. Banyak kali jugak aku pun tertidur sama. Sedar2 dah kul 2 pagi, terus aku bangun untuk solat Isyak dan kemas2 sikit. 

Oh, lupa nak cerita yg Ayra dah start solid. Current weight is 7.2kg at 6.5 months old. Hobi: koyak kertas, main ketuk2 botol kosong dan mengempeng sampai tertidur.

Tenangnya tengok anak tidur. Thank u Allah for this precious gift.

A Long Wait After A C-Sect

Just for your info, I gave birth my first baby via a c-sect. If you want to know more, please click here for the full story. I have to put everything in consideration such as doing heavy lifting, sport activities, climbing (even on a stool). Some people say giving birth via a c-sect is easier and less pain, but taking care of the wound is another story. 

Seeing and hearing pregnancy stories from my best friends made me feel like "Hey, I want to get pregnant again!". But, "Oh dear, I have to wait for 3 years before I start conceiving again!". How true is that? Do I have to wait for that long period? FYI, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS in short. A 'syndrome'? Sounds eerie right? Actually, it has something to do with my menses. A couple of years ago, my menses was haywire. It came every 3-4 months. Alhamdulillah, I managed to meet a gynae. He helped me to get my normal menses back. And finally, I was pregnant in August 2013 and gave birth to an adorable baby girl in April 2014. 

According to Babycenter, a woman after having a c-sect must wait for at least 18-23 months before conceiving again. 

"Studies have also shown that women who conceive less than six months after giving birth may have a higher risk for complications such as a ruptured uterus or a premature or low-birth weight baby. You'll need some time to adjust to your new life as a parent, too, before you add another baby into the mix. By giving yourself plenty of time to heal and to get acclimated to parenthood, you'll give your next baby the best start in life."

Well Ayra, mummy will give you a baby sister/brother when you reach 3 years of age. InshaAllah... As for now, we will concentrate on you and give you the best that we can.

Cerita Waktu Malam

Tajuk suspen kan? Muahaha. Ni cerita Ayra yang susah nak tidur malam on time. Lately sejak Ayra dah pandai main dan makin lasak ni, dia susah sikit nak tidur malam. Aku dah tidurkan dia seawal 8 malam, tup-tup dalam pukul 11.30 or 12 dia bangun sambil cakap, "At-tee-tah!". Itu bahasa Ayra which means "Jom main!". 

My oh my, dia bukan main segar bila mummy dan babah dah siap2 nak tidur or tengok CSI / Hawai-5-O sambil2 hirup Nescafe dan Teh O panas. Lepas tu berlarutan sampai 2 am. Macam mana aku nak manage sleep pattern anak aku ni? Memang baby macam ni ke bila dia dah 4 bulan ke atas?
